Prospero Engineering are seeking an experience Composite Design Engineer for a contract position working on complex high profile projects within Automotive/Motorsports

 

Accountabilities: 

  • To use 3D CAD software to design composite structures and components as directed by the Composite Design Group Leader.
  • To work with Composite Designers and Stress Engineers in the detailed laminate design of composite structures and components as directed.
  • To produce designs and drawings in accordance with standards, principles and quality measures.
  • To have an understanding of composite processing, and produce manufacturable designs, including, pre-preg specifications, metallic/composite inserts, foam/honeycomb cores, mandrels, bladders, tooling, fasteners and surface coatings.
  • To have an understanding of structural principles and to undertake simple calculations to inform the design process, including preliminary sizing of hardpoints, adhesive joints, lugs, fasteners.
  • To liaise with the Composite Design Group Leader to determine realistic project schedules and to work towards achieving them, forecasting exceptions throughout the process.
  • To work in accordance with  design process, including scoping work content, liaising with other engineers to ensure design specifications are met; presenting work at design reviews.
  • To maintain and develop good working relationships with colleagues, partners and suppliers.
  • To provide drafting and design duties for others in the group as required.
  • To assist with other non-composite design engineering aspects when requested to do so.
Essential Competencies:
  • Competent in the use of Siemens NX 3D Design software
  • Higher education in engineering, design or related discipline
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
  • A concise, effective communicator using written and verbal English language
